PALLIATIVE SERVICES

Palliative Care

Reliance Hospice Palliative Care Program provides supportive care services to patients and families who are not enrolled in hospice care. These services may include but are not limited to the following
• Social Worker, and Registered Nurse Consultations
• Community Resources
• Advance Care Planning
• Coordinating Care with Physicians
• Symptom Management Education

Hospice vs. Palliative Care

Both Hospice and Palliative Care focus on managing physical, emotional, and spiritual symptoms related to a serious illness.

Palliative Care services may have limited coverage from insurance plans for services that are not provided by physicians. Palliative Care services are not as comprehensive as hospice services. Patients can receive full treatment while receiving palliative care.

Hospice is a defined comprehensive program covered by most insurance plans for patients with a life limiting illness. Patients while under hospice care are no longer pursuing curative treatment.
